Finding Their Bearings

Finding Their Bearings
The Doctor sits up and climbs to his feet.

Doctor: ‘I will provide explanations on the condition, and only on the condition, that my friends are alright.’

Copperhead rolls his eyes.

Copperhead: ‘Fine, man. Whatever.’

The Doctor moves first to Amy, then Lady Gaga. While the Time Lord examines his companions, Copperhead explains his own interpretation of events.

Copperhead: ‘My team, a team if me, two Lampreys, and a bunch of Eels, were sent here by the Commander… uh, that’s Cobra Commander…’

The Doctor listens while he examines his friends.

Doctor: ‘I know who the Commander is.’

Copperhead: ‘Yeah, well, anyways, we were sent by Cobra Commander to spy…’

For a moment, Copperhead feels sheepish as his eyes quickly dart to Zandar. He pauses for a moment, then concludes that the needs of the current situation justify the disclosure of his mission details. Also, he knows it is too late to back out of the explanation now.

Copperhead: ‘Uh, we were sent to spy on Zartan and the Dreadnoks. The Commander wanted us to find out the true nature of the relationship between Zartan and Megatron.’

Copperhead returns a look to Zandar, expecting some sort of negative reaction. He finds no reaction of significance at all.

As Lady Gaga and Amy wake, Copperhead continues.

Copperhead: ‘So, I decided that, as tough as the Dreadnoks were, my team was tougher…’

Doctor: ‘How macho…’

Copperhead: ‘… and that we’d confront the Dreadnoks face to face. But you see, this was all part of my plan. It was a distraction. So my team confronts the Dreads face to face, while a Lamprey hides out and prepares to spy on the ‘Noks after we leave. The thing is, after we left, he got caught. I dunno how, but he got caught and thrown into a cell in the swamp. I wasn’t gonna let that slide…’

Eels: ‘You couldn’t! Cobra Commander was strict with his orders!’

Copperhead: ‘Let me do the talkin’ Eels… So, like I was sayin’, I wasn’t gonna let no one take a fall on my watch. So we marched back to find our teammate. It took us awhile, but we found him. But when we did, well, most o’ my team got eaten by crocs!’

Doctor: "Sounds like a very well thought out plan.’

Copperhead: ‘What? I said my team got eaten, man! That wasn’t part o’ my plan!’

The Doctor looks at Amy.

Amy: ‘The appreciation for sarcasm is a dying art… especially his!’

Copperhead: ‘So most o’ my team was dead, but I had to rescue that Lamprey. I wasn’t gonna leave nobody behind…’

The Doctor stands with his companions and checks for his sonic screwdriver in his pocket, satisfied when he feels it safely in tow. He begins to looks around, surveying the area.

Copperhead: ‘So me n’ Eels here went back to my ride and radioed in for some back up.’

Doctor: ‘You had back up and you got them killed.’

Copperhead: ‘Yeah, I know. That’s why I needed more! Man, I thought you was supposed to be smart!’

The Doctor motions Copperhead to continue. Eels however, takes the momentary pause to interrupt.

Eels: ‘Wait Copperhead, you’re missing parts out! We got captured and…’

Copperhead: ‘I’m movin’ the story along, Eels! I’m gettin’ to the point!’

Doctor: "Oh? Really?’

Copperhead: ‘Yeah, really. So we call for back up…’

The Doctor looks back at Amy and nods, indicating his agreement with her recent statement on sarcasm.

Copperhead: ‘…and eventually we meet ’em at the rendezvous point. A bunch of Range Vipers and a Cobra Officer. So, I thought to myself, now things are gonna happen!’

Lady Gaga: ‘So did they?’

Copperhead: ‘Nah. They got eaten by Ravage. I don’t even know what he was doin’ there…’

Doctor: ‘So, I believe you had a point?’

Copperhead: ‘Well yeah! Then we met up with you guys and Meantime went all glow-y and presto! We wake up here! So, what’s goin’ on, Doctor?’

Doctor: ‘That was a point?’

Amy: ‘Oh, and I suppose you’re famous for keeping explanations brief?’

Doctor: ‘I can appreciate sarcasm, Pond. Remember that.’

Copperhead: ‘Shut up n’ talk already! What’s goin’ on?’

Doctor: ‘We were spared. Somehow. I think it has to do with my sonic screwdriver. I brought the three of us here in the TARDIS…’

Copperhead: ‘Whoah, hold up! You got here in what?’

The Doctor breathes in a moment, suppressing his frustration.

Doctor: ‘My… boat. We got here on my boat, intending on stopping exactly what happened from happening. The time-control technology that Meantime is, is potentially far too devastating to be controlled by humans. Sorry, but it’s true… Cobra Commander wants the time-control technology to build and expand from it using the information he gathered from the rift atop Turtle Mountain. Megatron wants it to freeze time as a substitute for a space bridge to use to travel back to Cybertron and create a body that is free from the control of Cobra Commander. The thing is,the time-control technology that Meantime possesses is not enough to do either. That Lamprey that we’ve all been chasing is the catalyst, the result of Firefly a

My Sweetie

My Sweetie
I am asking everyone for prayers and good wishes again for Tommy my husband. I mentioned a few weeks ago that he was ill, and that he was having to go through a lot of tests. Well, tomorrow they will be performing a very delicate surgery on him to rule out cancer. The other tests and biopsies that were already done two weeks ago came back normal and no reason for concern, which is excellent. However, his doctor did find something that concerned him on the MRI of Tommy’s kidney. I am keeping my fingers crossed and being optimistic but one never knows how these things will go and I intend to be strong for him. I’m hoping of course that they do not find cancer, but if they do it will be the beginning of a treatment plan that will be so hard on him, and he will be laid up for a while. I do hope that everyone will offer up prayers that his health improves and that he recovers quickly. Thank you all.

"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." — Matthew 18:20 (Thank you Jeanne for sending me this scripture.)

UPDATE:

Well your prayers are still needed folks. It seems our fears were right. My Tommy has cancer in the early stages so far as we can tell and he must have his left kidney removed along with the ureter on that side. We are sad, and though not shocked, still a bit blindsighted. We knew the effects of cigarettes could cause some damage even though he quit several years ago. I urge any of you that are still smoking to stop now!

We have a good outlook but with cancer one never knows… but we at least have the knowledge base we need to proceed to good health. Forgive me if I am not on Flickr for a while as we start the treatment phase of this now four month long journey. It will be a few months yet before he will be recovered from the surgery that he still has to wait to have scheduled. (I am so grateful our country does not have Universal Healthcare or, from what I have heard from people that live in areas where they do have it, it may never come in time for him.) I still think that this is a blessing because it could have been so much worse. This type of cancer is 9 out of 10 cases curable. I’m believing he will be one of those nine.

Blessings and thanks to you all.
